HS GENERAL INFORMATION
Calvary Christian College High School
WHERE WE ARE WITH OUR NEW HIGH SCHOOL BUILDINGS
We bought property adjacent to the primary school in order to establish our high school. The year was 2003.
In 2004, we made the decision to open a high school. In 2005 we obtained our approvals from the GED and set about designing the school uniform, creating the application form and doing all the administration work around establishing a new school.
Initially the learners were to be on the same property as the primary school. So in 2006 we launched the high school and welcomed about 12 grade 8 learners.
While this was happening, we began the process of getting approval from the Gauteng Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (GDRAD) for the high school on the new property. It took us from 2008 to 2015, before we got the approval we were looking for. (See the History button). We worked with 4 MEC’s because there was so much corruption in GDARD and we refused to pay any bribes.
In 2015, Calvary Christian College High School began the process of obtaining the necessary approvals from the Johannesburg municipality to develop its new high school campus. After extensive studies, assessments and planning, construction began in 2022 with the goal of completing the new school buildings by August 2023.
Unfortunately, further delays occurred when the project was stopped by the municipality’s Building Control section due to outstanding approvals. The school subsequently discovered that fraudulent approvals had been submitted by the appointed construction company, significantly disrupting the planned development.
As a result, Calvary Christian College High School was unable to move into the new buildings in 2024 or complete the sports fields in 2025 as originally planned for the school’s 40th anniversary celebrations in 2026.
We were going to have to start the entire process of obtaining the necessary approvals all over again. This has cost us millions but God has always provided the finances for us to do what was required of us.
We are nearly done with this process and by the grace of God will be able to slowly begin the completion of the buildings and fields. Where the devil is an obstacle in the way, Jesus will move him out of His way.
